As a libertarian, I will be delighted to see a former public defender join the court. The system is so far from the ideal of a fair jury trial that everyone seems to think it is normal. It's terrible, and the Land of the Free has become the land of the lawsuit and the prison sentence.

As for the rest of the stuff in this article, I don't know how you manage to simultaneously believe some of these ideas without having your head explode. It's...a miracle of biology.

You think Republicans have trouble with the color of her skin, yet their favorite justice is Thomas. How do you manage to keep these two ideas in your head without suffering from dangerous intercranial pressure?

You mention the "end of the liberal order". When we talk about the liberal order we are talking about the Enlightenment liberalism, ideals like rule of law, trial by jury, freedom, property rights, reason. Things like that. NOT modern "liberal" politics, which pretty much is the exact opposite. "Woke" wants to advantage outcomes for certain preferred groups of people, not treat them equally under the law.

I believe that Jackson subscribes to these dumb and destructive ideas, but her reasonable views on crime are SO VALUABLE that I'll put up with just about any other defect. The incarceration state is a nightmare that MUST end. She's got my support no matter what else.
