Heh. Well, I owe nothing to authoritarians. I will say that diminishing and limiting the state is what much of liberalism focuses on, and I'll never stop hoping for it. The bigger the state the more evil it gets, and the super wealthy are currently directing the American state to their own ends.

Reducing the central state, the federal government, doesn't have to lead to neofeudalism. It can also lead to a return of federalism and a strengthening of small, local governments. This in turn could lead to a more diverse country politically, socially and spiritually. If you are unhappy with your local rules, it is very comforting to know you can move to a different place with different rules without leaving your home country behind.
