The trouble with the protests is that they can't do any good. Even if protesters overthrow the government there still isn't any money to power the generators. The next government will be in the same position.

Maybe take the Russians up on their offer of cheap oil. I hear Lavrov lived in Sri Lanka for a time, he understands the country. Good luck.
