Lol! OK, fair enough. The proof will be in the outcome. If Ukraine drives Russia back without being completely wrecked, conquered or losing more territory than Russia originally demanded then their choice to resist was correct. But if they lose more, then we can say the choice ranged from bad to disastrous. We will see.

Be careful of wartime news. Ukraine and her Western allies play up their victories and downplay their defeats. And so does Russia. We don't have a lot of good information.

We can infer some things. First, we don't see a lot of clear victories with solid video evidence coming out in mainstream news. The media wants to report victories very badly, but there isn't much. This means things aren't going as well as you may think.

Second, the Russians are fighting with one hand tied behind their back. The proof of this is that the electricity and internet are still on in the major cities. The Russians own the air, so it just takes one unstoppable missile to put out the lights, and they haven't done that. The trains are running, too.

This suggests the Russian intent is to capture rather than destroy, which is a much more difficult task. It would be much easier to just point their artillery at a city and blast it into rubble as was done in WW2.

Third, watch the Pentagon. You can see them in the background trying to put the brakes on the most unwise demands coming from the State department and some of our dumber politicians. They have more respect for Russian military capabilities than the civilians.
