Pretty soon we're going to have to pin our hopes on a U.S. jury, I think. It's unlikely to be a fair trial, but what's going on in Britain is very clearly unfair and a foregone conclusion. It might be better to stop resisting the extradition because the process just drags on and on and they're going to ship him to America in the end anyway. Maybe then he gets his day in court, and maybe the whole stinking mess offends a jury so much they acquit. But I suppose his lawyers know best.

Regarding "fascism", I think the term is tossed around lightly with little agreement as to what it is. If you take Mussolini's definition (he was an expert on the matter) it's essentially the marriage of corporations and the state, which is largely what we have. He also said, "Everything is the state, nothing outside the state, nothing against the state."

A LOT of people actually support this idea enthusiastically while hurling the word at their political opponents without really seeming to understand what it means. The more common, looser definition is something like "authoritarian, cop-loving, law and order, violent and a contempt for liberty", but even that has degenerated to just "people who won't agree to give me what I want" or more simply, "conservatives".

But under Mussolini's definition, the U.S. has indeed become a fascist state, especially since the wrecking of all the small businesses over the last two years. The censorship of social media fits the definition to a T. Most of Europe is fascist. China is fascist. They say they're communist, but in fact they are fascist.
