Uh...is this reversible?

Before we blot out the sun over a politically driven non-emergency, we should at least make sure we can back out of our mistakes.

Back in the 70's, all kinds of people were dead certain we were headed for an ice age. There were ideas to handle it, like spreading black sand over the snow in the arctic and setting up giant space mirrors to warm the world up.

Then, suddenly, the geniuses all decided that the world was heating up catastrophically. Never mind that everyone thought there was an ice age coming just a few years ago, the new thing was warming. No snow on Kilimanjaro by...whatever date Al Gore predicted!

There's still snow on Kilimanjaro, and if you didn't have scientists measuring and fudging statistics and feeding those numbers to an eager press and even more eager politicians you couldn't possibly know it was getting very slowly and very slightly warmer. A time traveler from 100 years ago wouldn't notice a difference.

I gotta admit this was a creative idea, at least!
