Yes, the driver was not vaccinated. But getting the virus is better than getting the vaccine in terms of future protection.

You'll disagree with me, of course. Here's a study backing me up:

https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/news/newsroom/news-releases/in-covid-19-vaccinated-people-those-with-prior-infection-likely-to-have-more-antibodies

That's from john Hopkins. I've seen, but don't want to go looking for, studies from both the who and the cdc showing the protection provided by natural immunity to be on par with or slightly better than the vaccine and lasting longer. I haven't seen any studies that show natural immunity for Covid dropping off with time, but they could be out there.

I have also seen studies showing that immunity to Omicron confers immunity to Delta but not vice-versa. God only knows why. Immunity to Omicron supposedly protects against omicron variants but not entirely. I'd have to see a study.

You can absolutely, positively find studies that contradict everything I just said, even some studies coming out of Hopkins, the who and the cdc that contradict their own studies. It is a bewildering stewpot of insights, confusions, addendums, contradictions, retractions and provisos.

Given the inpenetrable fog of conflicting information, you have to just pick which ever collection of studies you like the best and fit your own personal judgement of the situation. I'm going with my Hopkins study and the other who and cdc studies I read that back up my personal belief that natural immunity is stronger than vaccinated immunity. I'm going to ignore the ones that contradict my belief :)

You, of course, will go with your own. I don't blame you. It's what I'm doing. It's all any of us can do.
